Abstract

A distribution static synchronous compensator(D-STATCOM) based on dual-DSP is designed, in which one DSP is responsible for sampling, core algorithm, and SVPWM output, and the other is responsible for monitoring and communication. This structure can reduce the burden on each processor and accelerate the real-time response speed. Both DSPs have a protective function, and the realization of the redundant design of protection function enhances the reliability of the equipment. Through dq transformation, the required reactive current of the grid is obtained, and the non-steady-state error compensation for reactive current is realized via feed-forward decoupling control. The neutral current compensation is realized by means of sampling, triangular wave carrier, and PWM output. In addition, simulation with MATLAB and experiment on a 50 kvar prototype are conducted to obtain the data and waveforms, which verify the feasibility and applicability of the D-STATCOM based on dual-DSP.
