Abstract

Based on Timoshenko beam theory, the natural frequency and nodal pitch of the symmetrical three-step flexural vibration holder were calculated. The variations of the natural frequency and nodal pitch with the tool holder sizes have been drawn. It has been shown that the influence of the length of side beam on the natural frequency and nodal pitch is larger than the influence of the length of middle beam on that. The method to make the nodal pitch of reground tool unchanged by shorting the middle beam was proposed. The results of theoretical calculation are good agreement with experimental results.
