N2 - Up to now, the assembling process still profoundly relies on human to conduct the precise operations, which is high-cost and inappropriate for mass production. Therefore, the improvement of optical switch assembly becomes an interesting and significant researching issue, and control system is a key system for micro assembly prototype to complete the complex assembly process. In this paper, a control system applied in the assembly of optical fibers is presented. A hardware system and a software system are designed to achieve the assembly task. By adopting a hybrid control of vision and force strategy, micro-scale assembly tasks can be performed safely and stably. Experimental studies are carried out on the prototype to validate stability, reliability and high precision of the control system.
