Abstract
Applying the knowledge of terramechanics and advanced soil mechanics, a qualitative analysis of interaction between a rigid wheel and soil with given parameters was made, and the relationship between rover travel resistance and vertical load was built. Based on the result of wheel-soil analysis, a low-density sandwich composite wheel of planetary rover was designed.
