Abstract

The next-generation wireless local area networking (WLAN) draft is analyzed, and how to introduce Alamouti's space-time block coding (STBC) technology to the 802.11a WLAN system are researched according to the enhanced wireless consortium (EWC) draft. A baseband transceiver system is designed based on the combination of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) with STBC technology. Frame-structure of the system is mainly illustrated. Simple methods to solve the receiver's carrier frequency offset synchronization and channel estimation are put forward, and the methods make the receiver's realization simple. The performance of the system is simulated by MATLAB, and compared with traditional receiver system 820.11a. Simulation results show that the system function is correct and using of STBC improves the performances of WLAN on physical layer.
