Abstract

The CAN bus is a commonly used system bus in the micro-satellite of astronautics with low-cost and high reliability. The ARM chip with low power consumption and high-performance is widely applied to spacecrafts. It develops the CAN interface of AT91RM9200 for two popular high-performance ARM9 chips without CAN. This paper designs and implements the hardware and the software of a CAN interface on the ARM processor based on the synchronous serial peripheral interface(SPI) of ARM and the CAN controller with the standard SPI interface. Finally, the CAN interface is tested in three Baud rates. Results show that the expansion using SPI interface of the CAN interface has a low power consumption and reliable performance.
