N2 - As a public resource, the library has the very important value. Whether it is paper book or digital resource, library as a reservoir of knowledge meets people's daily learning and research needs. With the expansion of library's collections and the increasing of the number of readers, the traditional manual management methods can no longer meet the demand. An automated and intelligent management systems is imperative to address the growing demands of an expanding reader base and increasingly intricate management requirements. This paper begins with a concise overview of the library management system, followed by an elucidation of the imperative need for establishing such a system. After careful consideration, the decision was made to employ Java as the primary programming language, adopt B/S (Browser/Server) system architecture, and utilize MySQL as the backend database in order to effectively implement the library management system. Subsequently, a comprehensive analysis of functional requirements is conducted, taking into account the perspectives of both administrators and readers. The system functional modules and database E-R diagram are designed with the requirement analysis. Lastly, a series of functional tests were conducted, and the results indicate that the system predominantly fulfills the specified requirements. Upon successful implementation, this system has completed library's functions and achieved the expected goals.
