Design and development of open ERP system based on Web services

To integrate separate resources in different environments, this paper comes out when mobile computing is applied in manufacturing industry. As new enterprise application integration (EAI) technology, Web services can well integrate different enterprise applications including legacy systems and make enterprise resource planning (ERP) system be more open. The process of designing and developing an open ERP system with mobile computing is presented, and the case of the ERP system based on Web services in a locomotive and rolling stock works is given as an example. This open ERP system mainly uses Web services technology to solve the problem of system integration between different environments. Meanwhile, the realization of it by simple object access protocol (SOAP) is illustrated.
