Abstract

To solve cutting parameters modification problem of low rigid parts, a modification method for aircraft engine casing was proposed by integrating verification experiment and simulation analysis. Scaledown the casting prototype by using similarity theory, and compared the experiment result of the scaled model to the result of Finite Element Analysis (FEA). The reliability of mechanics simulation was verified. Simulation of cutting force was carried out by 3D milling simulation software. Combined with part mechanics simulation result, modification of cutting parameter for scaled model was proposed and the modified cutting parameters were also provided. The rationality of cutting parameter was verified by actual milling experiments. By applying this approach in the practical casing milling process, the modification of the machining parameters proved to be reliable and feasible.
