Crosstalk model for shielded bundles of random twisted-wire pairs

Abstract

A multiconductor-transmission-line (MTL) model for a shielded bundle of random twisted-wire pairs (TWPs) is proposed for crosstalk analysis. The whole random bundle is characterized by cascaded uniform MTL sections, with the center point of each TWP changing by a certain pattern. Compared with existing statistical models, the proposed one in this paper gives a more realistic consideration for tightly bound TWPs. The crosstalk between two TWPs within a braided shield is measured and validates the proposed model.
