Abstract
The performance of particle damper is strongly nonlinear. The collisions and friction were existed between particles and particles, particles and cavity walls. A coupling simulation algorithm based on the combination of the discrete element method and the finite element method was presented to calculate the response of system with particle dampers. Comparison between the analytical and experimental results showed that simulation of the response of a cantilever plate with a particle damper was accurate. It showed that the response of the cantilever plate depended on the mass-fill ratio and particle density of the particle damper.
