Cooperative Transmit Resource Scheduling Algorithm for Asynchronous Tracking in Heterogeneous Multiple Distributed Radar Networks with Imperfect Detection

Abstract

In this study, we propose a cooperative transmit resource scheduling (CTRS) algorithm for addressing the challenge of asynchronous multiple targets tracking (AMTT) in heterogeneous multiple distributed radar networks (HMDRNs) with imperfect detection performance. The main goal of the CTRS algorithm is to optimize the allocation of heterogeneous illumination resources, such as target-to-radar assignment, transmit power, dwell time length, and signal effective bandwidth, in order to minimize the overall radio frequency resource consumption while meeting the predetermined AMTT requirements and system constraints. To evaluate the accuracy of AMTT under imperfect detection conditions, we employ the Bayesian Cramér-Rao lower bound (BCRLB) as the criterion utility function. Furthermore, we develop a three-step solution approach that combines sequential quadratic programming (SQP) and cyclic minimization algorithm (CMA) to effectively address the resulting problem. Through extensive numerical simulations, we demonstrate the superiority of our proposed algorithm in terms of resource consumption and AMTT accuracy, outperforming existing approaches. The results confirm that our algorithm achieves equivalent AMTT accuracy with reduced resource utilization, showcasing its potential for practical implementation in real-world scenarios.
