Abstract

A dual notch sensor is presented based on complementary split ring resonator (CSRR) which is coupled to microstrip transmission line (MTL) for proper excitation. Electromagnetic simulation elucidates the concentration of electric field at the resonance of CSRR. Scattering parameters of the proposed sensor are calculated numerically and used to extract electric permittivity and magnetic permeability of the proposed sensor. Materials under test (MUTs) are placed at the most sensitive part of the sensor for sensitivity analysis. After fabrication the sensor is tested with a measurement error less than 1.5%. The measured results are presented in the form of transcendental equations.
