Abstract

With ISBSG (International Software Benchmark Standard Group) benchmark database, two typical software cost analysis models, Software Lifecycle Model (SLIM) and Constructive Cost Model (COCOMO), were studied. Through lots of simulations and computations, comprehensive comparison of cost estimation accuracy of the two models was conducted with respect to different types of projects. A set of valuable results were obtained. A decision-making method to select the appropriate model for a specific project was given. This method was applied to a development project of a multi-discipline design platform for complex products, which validated the feasibility of the proposed method.
