Abstract

A laser ranging system based on an acousto-optic frequency shifting loop (AO-FSL) is demonstrated using coherence pulse compression. Linearly frequency-modulated waveforms (LFMWs) with a 10-GHz bandwidth in the range of 6 GHz 16 GHz are generated by tuning the shifted frequency in AO-FSL. The experimental results show that this proposed system accomplishes ranging with an error less than 1mm over a 4-m range.
