Abstract

Spacecraft internal charging is the major threat of geosynchronous and medium earth orbit satellite. The polymer materials used in spacecraft are the main carrier of charge in spacecraft internal charging effect, and its charge leakage ability plays key role in the effect. In this paper, the conductivity of polyimide and epoxy were measured by vacuum charge decay method. The results showed that the conductivity of the two materials decreases linearly with time in logarithmic coordinates throughout the test, and the total change reaches 1-2 orders of magnitude. The results of this study have supported the recently published standards GJB 10010-2021.
