Characteristics analysis of total pressure control valve for pump-controlled hydraulic system of airborne control surfaces actuation

Abstract

This paper deals with the analysis and design of a kind of total pressure control valve (TPC valve) to be specially used for the fast response pump-controlled hydraulic system of large power airborne control surfaces actuation. It has two controllable chambers and one supplement oil port for forming reference pressure. Through the regulation of the pressure in the high pressure chamber and low pressure chamber, TPC valve can make the sum of the pressure in the two chambers be a constant. Thus, the pump-controlled system with TPC valve can have the same nature frequency as that of the classic valve-controlled system, and which means its natural frequency is increased by 41%. This paper introduces the principle analysis and structure design of TPC valve, and establishes a mafhematic model of the TPC valve. Furthermore, the analysis of the dynamic behavior and the influence of the valve's parameters on the performance are studied by using of MATLAB and FLUENT. The simulation results illustrate that the whole analysis and design of the TPC valve are reasonable and can be applied in the pump-controlled system under the requirements of large power and fast response application.
