Abstract

Experimental investigation of a turnover variable cross sectional area channel with transverse ribs of different pitch has been carried out. Specimen used is the mid-span section of an actual aero-engine turbine blade. It is aimed at studying the flow resistance and heat transfer characteristics of the channel with different rib pitch to rib height ratios. The inlet Reynolds number is ranged from 7000 to 6000. Experimental results show that with the increase of inlet Reynolds number, the flow resistance coefficient decreases. The effect of rib pitch to rib height ratio on the average flow resistance coefficient and the average Nusselt numbers reveals a multiple peak distribution.
