Abstract
M-ary bi-orthogonal keying (MBOK) can enhance the spectral efficiency of direct sequence spreading spectra (DSSS). However, the time domain equalization for the MBOK modulation is quite complex in ultra wideband (UWB) channels with severe multipath interference. This paper presents a frequency domain equalization algorithm for MBOK UWB systems. The algorithm is relatively simple and basically eliminates the residual multipath interference due to equalization, converting the UWB channel to a quasi AWGN channel. The theory of zero distribution of the channel transfer function is used to analyze the parameters of MBOK sequences regarding the residual multipath interference, guiding implementation of the frequency domain channel equalization algorithm.
