Abstract
A variable-coefficient nonlinear Schrödinger model is hereby investigated, which arises in the optical communication systems. A family of the exact analytic dark-soliton-like solutions is presented with computerized symbolic computation, which may be of value for future studies on the solitonic features in optical communication systems.
