CATR extraneous source analysis using plane wave spectrum approach

Abstract

Compact Antenna Test Range (CATR) has become a popular alternative to conventional high accuracy antenna and RCS measurements. One of the key problems in CATR research and manufacture is electrical readjustment after mechanical installation and adjustment. According to Plane Wave Spectrum (PWS) theory, distribution of extraneous waves in angular domain will be obtained by making inverse Fourier transform to test zone field, which provides the guidance for eliminating them. Simulation results assuming there exist one or more extraneous waves are presented. An actual example in CATR engineering is also given. Chebyshev window, whose sidelobe level is adjustable, is adopted.
