Abstract

Calibration errors for radar cross section (RCS) measurement on ground plane range (GPR) produced by incidence and tilt of the calibrator are studied, where squat cylinders are used as calibrators. Error models for both on-normal incidence and tilt of the squat cylinders especially exist in GPR are developed based on the measurement geometry as well as physical optics (PO) solution of the cylinder RCS. Simplified formulas for error bound are obtained and validated through numerical simulation.
