Abstract

Phase difference of current transducer is one of the main factors in electrical energy metering. According to the operation principle of digital closed-loop fiber optic current transducer (D-FOCT), the hardware time delay and phase-frequency characteristic of D-FOCT are the prime sources of phase difference. The theoretical magnitude of the phase difference is calculated by analyzing the signal flow graph and transfer function of D-FOCT. Afterwards, an experimental method based on sine response and step response is put forward for phase difference measurement and theoretical calculation validation. The validation concludes that the D-FOCT phase difference for power frequency current is approximately 1° and the phase difference error is less than 8'.
