Bond graph modeling of a mecanum wheeled robot

Abstract

Mecanum wheels are used when omnidirectional movability of a vehicle is desired. The omnidirectional driving is useful to drive in narrow space. It should be more widely used as a kind of robot for intelligent wheelchairs or vehicle robots for indoor applications by making the best use of its unique features. For achieving the movability it is important to build a model of this omnidirectional platform, especially if the platform is used by an autonomous robot. The objective of this paper is to propose a bond graph model of this Mecanum wheeled robot. After a description of Mecanum wheel is presented, we provide the modeling process for the whole robot with four wheels.
