Abstract

Based on HSTCP and binomial congestion control protocol (BCCP), a new high speed congestion control protocol was proposed. This protocol, named as high speed binomial congestion control protocol (HSBCCP), is adequate for transmission of streaming media data in high speed network. HSTCP protocol and BCCP protocol were introduced, and their default for transmission of streaming media data in high bandwidth delay environment was analyzed. Performance comparisons of HSBCCP and other congestion control protocols were completed from different aspects including congestion window, link utilization, rate smoothness and network adapting. Simulation results show that HSBCCP has high link utilization, favorable rate smoothness and network adaptively. There are no problems of low link utilization of TCP and high rate oscillation of HSTCP in HSBCCP.
