Abstract

The dynamical equations of the rotor-bearing system with pedestal loosening at one support are derived by the theory of nonlinear dynamics and rotor dynamics. The complex motions including the period doubling bifurcation and chaos and their evolution against the variation of the rotating speed are studied by means of the phase maps, the bifurcate maps, the Poincare maps and the correlation dimension. The obtained analytical results provide some basis for diagnosing the fault of pedestal loosening.
