Abstract

A internal planar mobile device antenna having a small size of 16×42mm2 for the WWAN/LTE operation. The antenna comprises a wandering driven strip at the front side of the substrate and an invert F shape parasitic shorted strip at the back. The driven strip generates λ/4 and 3λ/4 resonant modes. An extra resonant at 1800MHz is obtained and the bandwidth of the driven strip's two resonant modes is enhanced by embedding the parasitic shorted strip. Owing to the contribution of the two strips, the antenna capable of two wide bands (780-1090/1700-2850 MHz) to cover the desired GSM850/900/1800/1900/UMTS/LTE2300/2500 bands for the WWAN/LTE operation. Details of the proposed antenna and its radiation performances are presented.
