Abstract

An autostereoscopic three dimensional display composed of a flat panel display and two parallax barriers is given. Parallax barrier 1 facing the backlight acts as the function of the parallax barriers in ordinary autostereoscopic three dimensional displays, and parallax barrier 2 facing viewers acts as the function of decreasing the crosstalk of stereoscopic images. The operation principle of the display and the calculation equations for the parallax barriers are described in detail. A prototype of the display is developed and it presents good stereoscopic images with little crosstalk.
