Abstract

The Bäcklund transformations and the shallow-water wave equations are both interesting topics in mathematical and physical sciences. In this paper, we obtain an auto-Bäcklund transformation for a (3+1)-dimensional generalized shallow-water wave equation which is known not to be completely integrable in the usual sense. Sample solitonic solutions and the hierarchy of solutions are discussed.
