Abstract

To quantitatively evaluate the impact of deviation in machining process on process reliability, the concept of manufacturing process reliability was researched by considering time, quality and cost of production as the general product characteristics, and the correlation mechanism of quality characteristic was analyzed. Based on quality loss function, the relationship models were established to respectively describe the relationship between product characteristics and task demand and between process characteristics and production capacity. With the generalized stress-strength interference theory as reference, task load-production capacity interference model was put forward, which could represent reliability formation mechanism of manufacturing process. A framework for process reliability assessment was constructed and could be applicable to general process assessment. A study case for bearing coating process was given to demonstrate the feasibility and effectiveness of proposed method.
