Abstract

Service-oriented approach is becoming a prominent paradigm for Grid application development. However, less attention has been paid to component model and architecture of the Grid applications. This paper applies architecture driven paradigm to development of the service oriented Grid applications. Every architecture defining procedure results in a pattern that is used as the means to express the result of different development phases. The component model of Grid application is made up of patterns. Hence the services can be managed and retrieved easily. The gap between business goal and the services is bridged by the component relationships and compositions of them. The Grid application maintainer can better assess the impact of requirement or design modifications. In order to improve testability of the patterns, the component relationships are defined rigorously, service composition can be validated at configuration stage. The service patterns support to integrate services of varying levels of granularity.
