Abstract

Maintainability design can shorten maintenance time, reduce manpower and resources relevant to maintenance, make maintenance as simple and efficient as possible, and furthermore it is an extremely significant link in design. Traditional maintainability design method has accumulated much valuable experience, which is not classified, specified or summarized. Considered as the most powerful tool to enhance creativity, the theory of inventive problem solving, TRIZ, completely resolves the contradiction, reveals the ultimate ideal solution and has been widely used in engineering fields. In the paper, TRIZ is applied to maintainability design. A kind of innovative problem-solving method for maintainability design based on TRIZ is built, including work system and conflict matrix. This set of innovative approaches can provide designers with normative working thoughts to guide their new work and offer useful experience in design.
