Abstract

On the basis of phase equilibrium calculation, the solidification paths of Nb-Si-Mo ternary alloys with different compositions were simulated by Scheil-Guilliver model. In the meantime, according to the liquidus projections and phase equilibrium on the Nb-M rich side of the Nb-Si-M (M=Ti, Mo, W, Al, Cr, B, Hf) ternary system, the effects of alloying elements on stability of phase Nb3Si and the region of the two-phase Nbss+Nb5Si3 were analyzed. The calculated results are consistent well with the microstructure observed by experiments, indicating that the phase equilibrium analysis is helpful to composition design, solidification simulation and microstructure control of the Nb-Si-based ultra-high temperature resistent alloys.
