N2 - The exact locating of emergency and rescue resources is not the only precondition for implementing rescue work, but also the input data for optimizing vehicle dispatching. In this paper, locating technology is applied to determine the location of emergencies in the highway emergency response system. According to the alarm information, such as road name, stake number and traveling direction, the algorithm of locating emergencies has been designed by the comprehensive use of the variable length subsection mode and the interpolation method. This study has been applied to the actual scheduling platform. The results show that the proposed algorithms achieve the precise position of emergencies and improve the performance of the emergency response system.
