Abstract
Aero engine development is a critical link in the aero engine industry, and the organizational structure of aero engine development project impacts the efficiency and quality of the aero engine development. As integrated product development (IPD) has becoming a widely used product development concept, this paper analyzes the applicability of IPD to the organizational structure of aero engine development project based on the analysis of the characteristics of aero engine development project. A case of the application of IPD at Pratt & Whitney, which is an American aero engine manufacturer is illustrated. Moreover, the new requirements of the application of IPD to the organizational structure of aero engine development project are proposed, such as strengthening the international cooperation, combining integrated risk management and optimizing the project management methods.
