Abstract

According to the requirement of electro-optical detecting simulation system, this paper analyzes the theory in generating dynamic infrared (IR) scenes in front of IR detector, and emphasizes on the methods in practical application. Details concerning the calculation of IR radiation, conversion between IR radiance and gray-scale, rendering of three-dimensional (3D) visual scenes, generation of IR images and simulation control are presented to provide convincing support towards the methods of simulating IR scenes. Finally, a module of IR scene generation, based on Vega Prime and C++.Net platform, is also presented to illustrate the level of fidelity and real-time that can be achieved by using the methods discussed in this paper.
