Abstract

Compact Polarimetric (CP) SAR retains the observation bandwidth of Single Polarimetric SAR while capturing partial polarization information of the target, making it particularly suitable for large-scale remote sensing tasks. However, system errors have a huge impact on the signal transmission, propagation, and receiving of the CP SAR systems. Therefore, it is particularly important to evaluate the interference of system errors in CP SAR modes. In this study, experiments are conducted on both simulated and real measured polarimetric SAR signals, to understand the impact of various system errors on the scattering matrix and the extracted polarimetric features in CP SAR modes. The conclusions summarized in this study may benefit the design of future advanced polarimetric SAR systems.
