Abstract

Well-designed structure of the static conductor is helpful for improving the interruption performance of MCCB. Electro-dynamic force and magnetic field of the electric arc are calculated and compared between circuit breakers using two different static conductors. Based on the calculation results, influencing factors affected by the static conductor structure, including the contact separation time, the repulsive electro-dynamic force acting on the contact, the magnetic field distribution in the electric arc and the magnetic field magnitude during arc ignition, are analyzed. According to the analysis result, improvement of the static conductor structure of an actual MCCB is carried out and found effective of improving its interruption performance by network trial.
