Analysis of Characteristic of Different Slot Forms for Variable Camber Inlet Guide Vane

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

By using numerical simulation method, we analyzed the characteristic of different slot forms for Variable Camber Inlet Guide Vane. It is found that different slot forms have great influence on the performance of VIGV. The results show that when the aft-blade of the VIGV has no rotation angle, the influence of the slot form is small, while the influence of the slot form increases when the aft blade rotation angle increases. Arc-shaped slot form has better performance at all working conditions. 70° wedge-shaped slot has good performance when the rotation angle of aft blade is big, for which a small high-speed jet will be formed at the exit of aft blade suction surface and improve the flow of suction surface. The different position of the rear axis has great influence on the VIGV performance. Choosing the appropriate rotational axis position and forming a good slot form can effectively improve the performance of VIGV.
