Abstract

The flux weakening performance of fault-tolerant permanent magnet machines are analyzed and studied in this paper. The fault-Tolerant permanent magnet machines have high slot leakage inductance and harmonic leakage inductance inherent in order to run safely. The harmonic leakage inductance and the flux-weakening performance of fault-Tolerant permanent magnet machines are studied using winding function and FEA. The analytical results find that the fault-tolerant permanent magnet machines can performance flux-weakening very well in little flux-weakening current and can run in wide speed region, as its high harmonic inductance.
