Abstract
In this paper, an optical zoom method based on a spatial light modulator (SLM) is proposed. The SLM instead of the traditional solid lens is used in the method. By loading digital lenses with different focal lengths on the SLM, we can achieve the function of optical zoom. If we use two SLMs together and change the focal lengths of the digital lenses loaded on the two SLMs, we can change the magnification of the image and keep the image plane stationary. The experiments verify the feasibility of the proposed method.
