Abstract

In a nursing home, there is an attendant blind area at night and in bathroom, and the existence of the blind area will put the elderly at potential risk. To solve the problem above, a wireless monitoring system based on ZigBee has been developed, and the system serves the functions of night off-bed detection and bathroom monitoring. The system has the characteristics of low power and low cost, and can monitor the elderly off-bed at night and accident in bathroom, and send the alarm data to the nurse. In this paper, a system structure is proposed. Based on the structure, the hardware design of various nodes is described, the software design of off-bed detection terminal, bathroom accident monitor terminal and caregivers monitor terminal. At the final stage, the system is implemented and its performance is verified.
