Abstract

Attitude control of hypersonic vehicles (HVs) when they just reenter the atmosphere almost rely on their reaction control systems (RCS). However, modulation is needed in RCS because RCS is a discrete system. There are three usual modulators which are used in RCS. They are Bang-bang control, pulse width modulation (PWM) and pulse width pulse frequency modulation (PWPF). We analyzed the pseudo-linear and other characteristics of three modulators in this paper, as a result, PWPF has better pseudo-linear performance and better step response but more switching times. So, we proposed one new PWPF by add a damping coefficient in feedback to reduce switching times of PWPF. The new PWPF has a better step response performance and smaller switching frequency than traditional PWPF. Finally, we use simulation verify the feasibility of the new PWPF.
