Abstract

The activating state of metal surface plays an important part in phosphating of the metal. Surface conditioning is an effective method of activating metal surface. Ti-based surface conditioner is the most widely used conditioner. The storage life of colloidal titanium was improved greatly by the addition of sodium silicate together with sodium carboxymethyl cellulose during preparation of the conditioning agent.
