Abstract

Parents of children with autism usually suffer great psychological pressure without applicable communication platforms to relieve, which seriously affect their mental health. This study explored the needs of parents of children with autism for emotional support through interview and questionnaires. According to the result of investigations, we proposed corresponding online solutions and functional prototype. The preliminary evaluation showed that our design received positive feedback on establishing the connection between experienced parents and inexperienced parents, which enable parents for quickly finding required information, seeking helps and getting emotional supports. In future, we will further study the specific emotional requirements of parents in different psychological stages and then complete the function verification.
