Abstract
This Letter presents the transpiration estimation model for complete vegetation and the evaporation estimation model for bare soil. These models are based on information from surface properties like land cover and surface albedo. Vegetation coverage data is included to derive a model for daily regional ET estimation over the heterogeneous landscape. This approach provides a reliable estimate of ET over the semiarid and arid regions of North-west China. The model is validated against observations on the ground. The validation shows that this model provides good estimation of daily regional ET.
