Airborne radar target detection modeling in complex and changeable environment

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The airborne PD radar model with the characteristics of complex weather and varied height was built, which took atmospheric attenuation, multipath propagation and atmospheric refraction into account. These environmental factors were introduced to the detection model, which calculated the target detection probability and analyzed the measurement error of target's distance and angle. The target detection probability was affected by the atmospheric attenuation and multipath propagation. Combined with the impact of atmospheric attenuation and multipath propagation on detection probability, the formula of detection probability was acquired. The measurement error was caused y multipath propagation and atmospheric refraction. Measurement error was analyzed, and then the corresponding measures were taken to reduce the error. The target detection model in the complex and changeable environment was built. The experimental results show that environmental influence on the detection probability and measurement errors is reasonably considered, and then proved the validity of the proposed model.
