Aerodynamic design of low pressure turbines on the condition of low reynolds number

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

This paper concerning under low Reynolds number condition the low efficiency of low pressure turbines (LPT) presents how to consider the effect of Reynolds number in design cycle, and a reasonable loading distribution form is given with one practical design example. Three-dimensional vicious calculation results show that the application of present loading distribution can efficiently control boundary layer separation and decrease the sensitivity to Reynolds number of LPT, accordingly the performance of LPT keeps better under high altitude and low Reynolds number conditions.
