N2 - Civil aviation develops rapidly, to enhance the security and reliability of instrument landing system, adaptive beamforming technology has been proposed to the future air traffic control system, which is a cooperative instrument landing system. Based on adaptive beamforming technology, the feasibility was analyzed in this work. Adaptive signal equations were deduced in adaptive instrument landing system. Localizer beacon can navigate the airplanes landing by different curves. Glide path beacon can navigate the airplanes landing at different glide path angles. With the MUSIC algorithm, we compare the analytical results with the simulation results. It is shown that adaptive ILS can provide wide space coverage and different glide angles in the instrument landing system. The proposed system has more functions and easier to implement than the microwave landing system. The flight limits of the conventional instrument landing system are released and the space coverage of the air traffic control system is extended.
