Abstract
Application of the three-dimensional digital image correlation technique (3D DIC) to the accurate measurement of full-field surface profile of a 730mm-diameter carbon fibre composite satellite antenna is investigated in this article. The basic principles of the 3D DIC technique are described. The measured profile was compared with the one measured with a three-dimensional coordinate measuring machine. The results clearly indicate that the 3D DIC technique is suitable for full-field surface profile measurement of small satellite antenna, and further application of the 3D DIC technique to the measurement of thermal deformation of the antenna is expected.
